A Typical Day at Camp

7:00 AM

Wake Up Bell

Counselors are in charge of waking themselves up and their campers. It’s a good idea to have an alarm clock set to 6:30am so you have enough time to wake up and get ready before waking sleepy campers.

7:15

Morning Watch

We begin each day with an energizing devotion called Morning Watch. Devotions are age appropriate and led by our counselors. These daily devotions follow our Christian theme for the summer and are a great way to start the day off, centered around Christ.

7:25

Flag Raising

It has been a tradition at camp to honor our country by raising the flag and saying the pledge. Every cabin takes turns doing this each morning and will be taught the proper formation.

7:30

Breakfast

Breakfast is a staple with many delicious options. Each morning our kitchen staff serves a variety of delicious foods. These include eggs, bacon or sausage, biscuits, fruit, yogurt, muffins, bagels and cream cheese, scones, cinnamon rolls, juices and coffee (for those of you who need it). The camp favorite is homemade donuts on Sunday.

8:00

Cabin Clean-up

It’s important to make your bed every day to feel a sense of accomplishment. The campers, along with your help, make their bed every day and are assigned different jobs to help keep the cabin clean. This would include sweeping, taking out the trash, or checking the clothes line. They learn how to work together to finish the task while feeling successful. At lunch one cabin is recognized for their efforts.

8:30

Club/Staff Meetings

While campers attend their club meetings, the staff will also have a meeting. At these meetings there will be time to go over day time activities, night time activities, visit with co-counselors, and feel encouraged.

9:00

1st Activity

You will teach or assist 5 activity periods. A schedule will be provided to each counselor and will include a free period. To lead an activity you will have completed a short lesson plan to implement while actively engaging with your campers. During your free activity period you can check your phone, work on your computer, rest or exercise.

10:00

Beli Deli

This is a time where campers and counselors gather, choose a snack from the camp store and just visit. We have candy, chips, frios, granola bars, fruit and drinks. It’s a great time to hang out with your campers.

Lunch

Lunch is also delicious along with a counselor specific salad bar. Our kitchen staff works hard to provide a well rounded meal that changes daily. A special peanut butter and jelly sandwich is always an option too. All meals are served family style.

Rest Hour

This is a time for rest. You’ve had a busy morning and so have your campers. Some campers use this time to write letters home, color a picture or read a book. Occasionally this will lead to homesickness but we will train you on how to handle these delicate situations with love. Truly the main goal during this time is rest.

3:30

Beli Deli

This is a second opportunity where campers and counselors gather, choose a snack from the camp store and just visit. Hanging out with your campers is one of the things that makes you a favorite counselor.

6:00

Shower/Free Time

We have showers inside the cabins and a separate shower house for the younger cabins. This allows campers and counselors the chance to shower and even some free time to play gaga ball, get dressed for the night time activity, and hang out with friends. Some may choose to shower at the end of the day after campfire if time allows. Counselors getting ready for their night out are often showering now as this is when time off begins.

6:30

Flag Lowering

Again we show respect for our country by lowering the flag each night. Every cabin takes turns doing this each evening and will be taught the proper formation.

6:40

Dinner

Dinner is also a delicious meal that our kitchen staff prepares and serves family style. Again the salad bar is open and pb&j is an option. Camp songs are sung at each meal and easy to learn. This is also a great time to get into the spirit of our night time activity.

7:15

Evening Program

We have a different activity each evening that has been well planned out by our Night Time Director. You will have a specific job to help this run smoothly. Some activities are club competitions others are cabin competitions and then some are more low key. If it is your night out you are not on duty and can go off campus or hang out in the counselor den.

8:30

Campfire

We end each day with a calming devotion around the campfire. All devotions are age appropriate and led by our counselors. Devotions are centered around our overall theme for the summer based on our mission of Enriching young girls in God, Relationships and Self. We have a campfire for the younger children in hut row and the lodge and a separate one across the river for our older girls in Summerplace and Riverside. Typically the older girl’s campfire goes a little deeper into the daily theme.

9:00

Hut Row/Lodge campers return to cabins

When the campers and their counselors return to their cabin they begin a night time routine of brushing their teeth and getting ready for bed. It’s also a time for reflecting on the day.

9:15

Hut Row Lights Out

If your cabin is not asleep now they will be shortly. Then you can go to your bed and sleep.

9:30

Lodge Lights Out

Due to their age the lodge girls are allowed to stay up a little later. Once they are in bed and asleep you can go to bed too.

9:45

Summerplace campers return to rooms

When the campers and their counselors return to Summerplace they will also return to their individually assigned room to begin brushing their teeth and getting ready for bed. It’s a time for reflecting one last time on the day and having flashlight time to write home or read a book. Counselors are always inside helping to facilitate and spend time with their campers.

10:15

Riverside return to rooms, Summerplace Lights Out

When the campers and their counselors return to Riverside they will also return to their individually assigned room to begin brushing their teeth and getting ready for bed. It’s a time for reflecting one last time on the day and having flashlight time to write home or read a book. Counselors are always inside helping to facilitate and spend time with their campers.

Lights out for Summerplace. Summerplace girls are allowed to stay up a little later than lodge and hut row girls. Once they are in bed and asleep you can go to bed too.

10:45 Riverside Lights Out

Due to their age the Riverside girls are allowed to stay up the latest. Once they are in bed and asleep you can go to bed too.

If it is your night out:

11:00 Junior Counselor Curfew

Junior Counselors will check out and in at the office so we can ensure the safety of all on campus.

12:00 Senior Counselor Curfew

Senior Counselors will check out and in at the office so we can ensure the safety of all on campus.
