From motions, stunts, tumbling and jumps you’ll get to help campers become more confident while they are learning new skills in cheerleading. Creating a performance routine will be the exciting task of the two weeks. This routine will be preformed for the entire camp during one of our night activities. This will allow creativity and the ability to teach others confidence in what they have learned.
Apply NowFlying high on our Mexican cloud swing, swinging on the trapeze bar, or climbing silks will allow you to help campers reach new milestones at camp. Campers rising 5th - 11th grade will be flooding to your classes wanting to learn new tricks and better their swinging penny drop. Building girls confidence each day and watching campers overcome their fear will be one of the most rewarding things you do this summer.
As the dance activity head you will lead three classes of campers, helping them learn various styles of dance. Campers will develop a deeper understanding of body movement, control and creativity all while having fun with the dances you create for each class. At the end of the session each class period will perform during a night time activity.
Apply NowFrom forward rolls to round off back hand spring tucks, campers will be in your classes with all different skill levels. We offer gymnastics mutiple periods a day, which gives campers an option to be in an advanced class where they must be able to do a back handspring by themselves. This allows creativity with teaching all levels. You’ll be teaching campers confidence in the new skills you have helped them accomplish over the two weeks.
Apply NowAs the head of Musical Theater, you will help campers find their voices, you’ll teach them to sing, dance, project their voices, and work together to perform in front of their camp community.
Each class will be one hour long. Each performing art class varies on how many class periods each day.
Some performing art classes are only offered once a day where others are offered multiple times. The classes only offered once a day tend to have more campers in them.
We ask that you have experience in teaching the performing art you are interested in applying for. Knowledge in the skills it takes to safely perform each class and assist the campers in learning new techniques.
The salary is competitive and there is a $400 bonus for those who stay all summer. Unlike other summer jobs where you immediately spend the money you earn, summer camp staff are able to save their summer salary.
Counselors take off two nights per week and a day and a half between sessions. In addition, counselors have a free period for an hour each activity day. We have a counselor den for our counselors to relax, use their phones and computers during this time.
Housing and meals eaten at camp are free. Laundry service is provided twice a session. Your staff uniform shirts that are worn on opening and closing day are free. You can use many camp facilities during your free time, as long as it does not take away from a class or camper.
We require all of our staff to attend staff orientation which is typically the last week in May and into the first week in June. We strongly encourage Senior Counselors to work the entire summer which is 8 weeks and will accept Senior Counselors to work 4 consecutive weeks. All Junior Counselors must work 4 consecutive weeks.
We call our community the camp bubble. We strive to put Christ first in everything we do and talk about Him daily. While it may be hard to be a Christian in the “real world”, it’s cool to be a Christian at camp. The administration will pour into you and your walk with Christ during your time here.
Every counselor lives in a cabin with 10-16 campers and 2-3 other staff members. You’ll love the energy and excitment of cabin life. You can see what the cabins look like on Camp Skyline’s Cabins and Crossing the River pages.
