Archery at Camp Skyline is a super popular activity because Archery is not an activity you get to do regularly at home. As an Archery Activity Head you will help teach girls 1st-11th grade who want to have fun and learn how to properly shoot a bow and arrow and help girls progress in their skills by learning new techniques at the archery range. You must pass an in person or online course for archery instructors. Choosing to teach Archery to campers this summer will help you grow more confident in your own abilities. You’ll improve your leadership skills, your teaching techniques will be stronger and you’ll leave with weeks of experience that you can use beyond this summer.
The archery activity periods are one hour long and you’ll teach 5 periods a day. At the start of every class period you’ll make sure all campers are accounted for before beginning each class period. Other camp counselors will assist you in implementing the lesson plan you create for your archery classes that will be tailored to different levels and abilities. It is your responsibility to keep all campers engaged and having fun.
All campers have the opportunity to take archery as a class. One class is offered for our one week campers and there will be 15 campers in that class. There will be 4 classes for two week campers ranging in grades 1st-11th, each of these classes will have no more then 25 campers in them. Other counselors will help assist you in these classes.
No matter the experience you have we require you to go through a training. We ask that you come to camp early and go through an in person training or complete on online training course.

The salary is competitive and there is a $400 bonus for those who stay all summer. Unlike other summer jobs where you immediately spend the money you earn, summer camp staff are able to save their summer salary.
Counselors take off two nights per week and a day and a half between sessions. In addition, counselors have a free period for an hour each activity day. We have a counselor den for our counselors to relax, use their phones and computers during this time.
Housing and meals eaten at camp are free. Laundry service is provided twice a session. Your staff uniform shirts that are worn on opening and closing day are free. You can use many camp facilities during your free time, as long as it does not take away from a class or camper.
We require all of our staff to attend staff orientation which is typically the last week in May and into the first week in June. We strongly encourage Senior Counselors to work the entire summer which is 8 weeks and will accept Senior Counselors to work 4 consecutive weeks. All Junior Counselors must work 4 consecutive weeks.
We call our community the camp bubble. We strive to put Christ first in everything we do and talk about Him daily. While it may be hard to be a Christian in the “real world”, it’s cool to be a Christian at camp. The administration will pour into you and your walk with Christ during your time here.
Every counselor lives in a cabin with 10-16 campers and 2-3 other staff members. You’ll love the energy and excitment of cabin life. You can see what the cabins look like on Camp Skyline’s Cabins and Crossing the River pages.
